Iranian-American families, whose relatives were unable to secure US visas due to compulsory conscription into the IRGC, protest outside the White House. They urge the US government to exempt Iranians conscripted into the IRGC from any affiliation with the organization.
Since 2019, the IRGC has been rightfully recognized as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) by the United States. But unfortunately, Iranian men who were conscripted into the IRGC found ineligible for entry into the US since then.
Regrettably, the US Department of State has yet to establish any exemption guidelines for Iranians who were compelled into conscription by the IRGC, and who did not IRGC members or employees.
This situation has resulted in the separation of thousands of families, with one or more members stranded in Iran. We are asking for the State Department and DHS (USCIS) to issue clear guidelines exempting Iranians who were forcibly conscripted into the IRGC from being associated with the IRGC FTO designation.
